BUILT-IN POWER
With their integrated solar cells, the Solar Squared glass blocks generate electricity while maintaining the transparent and thermal qualities of glass.
Renewable energy experts from the University of Exeter in England developed a glass block with built-in solar cells. The product, has high thermal insulation and allows natural light to enter the building. The innovative glass block can be incorporated into the facade of a building in order to collect solar energy and convert it to electricity.
This new technology would allow electricity to be produced at the site of use, whilst being seamlessly integrated into the building. The blocks are designed to fit seamlessly into either new buildings or as part of renovations in existing properties.
